About Us

Physiofirst Bayside was established by Tim Atkins in 1997 to provide quality care for athletes and members of the general public. Our aim is to work with patients to ensure a prompt return sport, work and improved health in the shortest possible time frame. To achieve these outcomes we provide a comprehensive assessment & treatment program incorporating the following:

  • Work with only one patient at a time
  • Educate patients as to why injury has occurred
  • Individualised home exercise programs
  • Provide postural education & injury prevention strategies

We treat all types of sports, workplace and common lifestyle injuries across all age groups from school age children to the elderly.

Tim began his career in the health industry as a Physical Education teacher and sports coach in Basketball. After graduating as a Physiotherapist he spent 6 years working as a physio in the U.S.A gaining experience in treating a wide range of sports injuries, general post surgical rehabilitation, and geriatric care. Returning home in 1997, Tim worked in a large sports medicine practice for a short time before setting up his own Physiotherapy and Personal Training business in 1998. Over the next 6 years he developed a thriving practice focusing on assisting people overcome their injuries and promoting improved health and fitness in the general population. During this time he also worked as a Physiotherapist for the Sandringham Sabres Basketball program 1999-2001, and for Old Haileybury Football in the ‘A’ Amateurs. In 2004 Tim chose to focus more on his physiotherapy practice and, therefore, sold his interest in the personal training business. In late 2006 he moved his physiotherapy business to its current location at: 1/19 Keys St Beaumaris.
